Andrew has been too busy training to update his blog recently, but here are a few mini-updates of how he's doing and how to keep track of him during his ride.

April - King of the Mountains

Well April has been a tough month for training -  Fitting in work, home training and injuries (yes I over did it and thought I was the next Bradley Wiggins and went too fast and pulled the tendons in the back on my knee) – but it is also the biggest month with nearly 1000 miles cycled and lots of gym work for my “core” 

The Camille’s Appeal fundraising team have tried some interesting ways to increase our pot of money over the years. Bungee jumps, bungee catapults, sumo suits amongst many others, but nothing comes close to bearing your soul on national television in an attempt to win some good hard cash for the charity.

Spring is finally in the air and our supporters are out in force training and planning for upcoming events.  So, what can you expect to see in the next few months?

Had a great 60 mile ride onto Exmoor yesterday but this time with other people (what a difference some company makes!). Met up with Thor, Richard and Lauren who are all from Devon and also doing the ride with us in June, and took on some serious climbing on Exmoor from South Molton.

85 miles and "Two seasons in one day!"

Well this weekend was a milestone for me. After managing a 60 mile ride last weekend I planned to try 85 miles and add some serious climbing by going up into Exmoor (also part of day 8 of the ride itself). Knowing this was going to be a biggie I decided to add some motivation by contacting one of the other riders who lives in North Devon and arranging to meet him at 9am at the bottom of the climb up to Exmoor.

This time last year, Camille's Appeal's fundraising team and supporters were facing the somewhat daunting prospect of achieving 2012 fundraising miles in 2012, a challenge reflecting the sporting spirit of the 2012 Olympic Year.  Of course our supporters more than rose to the challenge - with people climbing mountains, cycling through the night, running marathons and even flying through the air! 

So by the end of December we can announce that our team and supporters had walked, ran, climbed, flown and danced their way to an amazing 2143 miles!  

The Camille's Appeal Christmas cards and calendars have once again been created thanks to the time and donations of some very talented charity supporters.

Camille’s Appeal’s fabulous supporters have been getting into the olympic spirit this year by walking, running, climbing and dancing their way to our 2012 miles in 2012 target.  We are pleased to announce that their efforts so far mean we are almost three quarters of the way to reaching this target - with almost 1500 fundraising miles completed already!

I was nominated for this honour several months ago by Martin and Hayley Shave for my tireless fundraising and support for Camille's Appeal; the charity that they started, inspired by their daughter Camille. Over the past three years I have spent the majority of my free time identifying ways to raise both the profile of the charity and funds to support the recovery of children following brain tumour treatment.

News Bulletin: Our 2012 Zumbathon was a great success, raising almost £300 and covering over 100 miles in dance steps!

Important dates for events and charity activities in July and August

It was a very strange sight. 1500 people, mainly clad in lycra, hanging around a deserted park in the middle of the night. But this was no ordinary night; no, this was Nightrider night! A 100km/63 mile ride (not a race Duncan!) around London to raise money for our own choice of charity – Camille’s Appeal for us of course.

SADPA, the Suffolk Academy of Dance and Performing Arts put on another amazing show this year when they performed the BIG show at the Ipswich Regent recently, raising a fantastic £1500 for Camille’s Appeal.

Very definitely impulsive and ever so slightly bonkers ... is how I describe my decision to climb Kilimanjaro!

Sunday 11th March saw Team Camille's Appeal up and about bright and early, ready to join the 3000 runners entered in the Cambridge Half Marathon.  The race had been hugely popular when entries opened in October, so we were very lucky to have managed to grab 6 places

Paediatric Neurosurgical Nurse Practitioner Samantha Oswald tells us why she supports Camille's Appeal and is running a half-marathon for the charity this month.

From running to cycling; treking to swimming; running to dancing, the wonderful supporters of Camille’s Appeal have really been getting behind our attempt to cover 2012 miles in the sporting spirit of the 2012 Olympics.

The 9th December saw a descent of glitz and glamour to Wherstead Park, Suffolk, as supporters of Camille’s Appeal came together for a night of good food, dancing, and a fabulous ‘money can’t buy’ auction.

A group students from West Suffolk College who have decided to record and release a Charity Christmas single. This song is called ‘This Winter’ and was produced to raise funds and awareness for Camille's Appeal.

Sunday 21 August saw over 2000 of our supporters come together for the same purpose - to raise hopes, smiles and money for Camille’s Appeal – as so many of them do throughout the year.
