2011 Summer Fun & Run Day
Funds in the Sun
Sunday 21 August saw over 2000 of our supporters come together for the same purpose - to raise hopes, smiles and money for Camille’s Appeal – as so many of them do throughout the year. The day started out with a guest appearance from Matti Mortimore who showed off his welly-wanging skills before starting off the main event. Our brave runners who battled the heat in fantastic times and spirits (and, in some cases, fancy dress!) A special mention should certainly go to Stewart Bethall who was not only instrumental in organising the event but did 5 miles in a tutu! He was most generously sponsored for this feat! Our little Wiggle Waddlers also did themselves proud; some of them going all out and running their 1 mile course; others upping the distance and going round one more than once! The Mayor, a firm supporter of the charity who came to start the Waddle, was justly impressed.
Throughout the day our supporters were treated to some wonderful displays in our arena from the SADPA group and Diamonds & Poloz majorettes. As well as live Zumba classes run by Bethany Dawes, which went down a storm. We have even been inspired to look into organising a sponsored Zumbathon next year! Our crafts tent had some wonderful exhibitors who we hope will join us again another year. The guide dogs and the police car were also a definite hit!
As the day drew to an end, our guests were a sea of green and pink in our new Camille's Appeal t-shirts, a reminder of the amazing support we have. We are very grateful to everyone who made the day such a success. We are always similarly delighted to hear of our supporter’s fundraising efforts throughout the year – email fundraising@camillesappeal.co.uk and tell us what you’ve done.
